How Should We Define Beauty?

ree

I have been struggling lately with the realization, that not a lot of people know what inner beauty is anymore. We are so concerned with our appearance that we have consuming thoughts about what the social world will view us as when we are out in public.

Not a lot of people use kindness to live a good life anymore. We are all trying to keep up with everyone else and the competition is high. What happened to choosing the things you like to do, because you like them and not because other people do? Why do we let other define us? - Just some thoughts to ponder.

So, how should we define beauty?

Some people think beauty is about fitting in with a specific group of people.

Some people believe it is only skin deep and some believe beauty is more than that.

I am going to share with you my personal opinion of what I think true beauty is.

Beauty to me, is about what goes on inside your heart and soul as the core being of who your true self is.

It is about finding your balance between work and play in ways that give your life meaning for you.

It is about building connections with others that are non-judgmental and spaces of safety and security.

Beauty is how you carry yourself with confidence and your resilience to overcome life's many struggles.

It is about your inner strength that keep you from not giving up on your dreams, when every door is slammed in your face.

Ultimately, my opinion of beauty is an individual who stands in the face of adversity and still manages to care enough about helping other people to become their best self. To empower and encourage others to rise above their struggles and find hope for their future. A hope that is filled with kindness, happiness, and true love. That is what I think beauty is all about. It does not matter what you look like, it is about who you are as a human being and what you hold inside your heart.
